Terrible lazy.

My first/last post was in December, so an update is in order!

I've managed to move from Bundang to Suwon. In the intervening time, I've finished my contract, signed a new one, travelled to Hong Kong, explored the area around Seongtan, broke a laptop, and resurrected it (somewhat.) I've managed to get sick, like, a million times (and am currently battling a nasty sinus infection.)

Spring is starting to sneak in, although it's sneak is slow and creeping. The air has this warm-wise quality of pollen and yellow dust. Hopefully, we can travel around Korea some soon, a little further afar than Seoul or Line Number One, now that the weather is improving. The adventurer in me hates the fact that I've let the stupid weather influence my activities, but the fact remains that Korea is absolutely terrible in the winter (especially for an ex-Floridian!)

Now, I may have a job, but I've yet to work a day of it. I'll start at Baeyang Elementary School in 10 days, and I'm very excited for it - the curriculum is based on a few books, but otherwise completely open. My classes are, unfortunately, much larger and filled with a minimum of English-speakers. So, ok! My co-teacher, Jeonga, is this incredibly reasonable, nice, energetic lady who is interested in learning pedagogy and I am excited to work with her. My impression of this post (while having not worked it whatsoever, ha!) is that an emphasis on fun has been missing. I'm going to focus on fun games and entertaining handouts. Also, I've got some good classroom management tricks up my sleeve that I can't wait to whip out.

Ten days, then, for the remainder of my extended vacation to take on some semblance of activity. Truth is, outside of a lot of reading and isolated trips to Chinese SARs, I've done very little. Of course, I'm my biggest critic and I've really not been that lazy. The time has come to shake off the last of it and bloom like those damn, dusty flowers outside.
